AALPACAS' Black Velvet

Stunning Tuscan Gold/Cocoa Puffe daugher in a true black model. Another female we will keep for our foundation herd, in spite of multiple requests to sell her. She is a silky style huacaya with a very bright, silky soft fleece with good, uniform character. She has remained a small, compact female but has good dense bone, level topline and is fully covered in fleece down to her toes. She has a very quiet disposition, like her dam, and is an easy keeper. She has placed at the shows in the top placings in the class and behind 2 of her sisters, Mezzenotte and Black Jewel. At the 2011 GWAS show, she placed 3rd, ahead of Mezzenotte, and the class was combined with 2 bay blacks, who took 1st and 2nd. Otherwise, Black Silk would have had the blue ribbon and Mezze the red. Mezzenotte is a paternal half sister but a manternal cousin as she is out of Chocolat, another black Cocoa Puffe daughter we have retained in our foundation herd. We bred Mezzenotte and sold her at the 2009 Futurity auction as a juvenile. She has gone on to win multiple blue ribbons and color championships. Black Silk's paternal half sister, Black Jewel, was bred by Irish Meadows and also has multiple blue ribbons and color championships to her credit. These 3 black females as yearlings have been consistently placing in the top 4 places at the shows (see 2010 Mid America, 2011 OK Blastoff, 2011 TxOLAN, 2011 MOPACA, 2011 GWAS). These are just a sampling of the champions in Black Silk's paternal pedigree line. We didn't even start to list the maternal line champions, for example our own multiple champion, El Corazon` di Bella Vita, and full siblings Tuscan's Prosecco and Tuscan's Perfect Storm. We purchased a breeding to multiple champion Copehnagen of Greener Pasture Alpacas for Black Silk. This will be a much anticipated cria in 2012. Black Silk will be rebred in 2012 after her cria to multiple champion King Solomon.
